Working with cursive fonts and Welding
1. Type out the text. Change the font to the font you would like in the edit tab.
2. Adjust the letter spacing in the edit tab on the right until the letters touch the way you want them to. (you can use the arrows or type in the numbers and hit enter if it's just not coming out just right)
3. At this point you may notice some letters may not be perfectly aligned. In this case, I'm not happy with the first letter and want it spaced a little further apart from the rest. It's okay the way it is, but I want it separate.
To do this, highlight the entire word. Then right click and click ungroup.
4. Highlight just the first letter. Use the arrow keys to move the "E" over to the left, until you are happy with the spacing.
5. When you are completely happy with the spacing, highlight the entire name.
6. Right click. Click "group" the letters together.
7. Now, Look closely between the letters. Notice the black line separating both "m's"?
I'm going to step back for a second and explain that black line. That is the cut line. So, wherever you see the black line, is where the cricut will cut. Obviously, you do not want the name cut into individual letters. You want it cut in one continuous word. That's where the next step comes in. Highlight the entire word and click on "weld" in the edit tab.
8. Now notice the black line? It no longer separates the two "m's" and will cut the word as one continuous piece. Perfection!
9. Now to add an svg (arrow) to it. Import the svg as you normally would. Resize it, ungroup it and align it to the proper position.
10. Make sure it overlaps the letters slightly.
11. Highlight the entire image and weld like you did the name earlier.
12. That's it! You are ready to cut. Notice, again, that it now will cut as one image. One thing to remember is once you weld, that's it. You cannot go back. So make sure it's perfect. Great job!
